About

Founded in 2025, Next Rep is new kind of sports marketplace.

Instead of the traditional linear model (buy new, use briefly, discard), we're creating closed-loop systems where gear moves efficiently from one athlete to the next, until it needs to retire. This approach reduces household sports spending, ensures equipment reaches its full useful life across multiple seasons and multiple athletes, and minimizes environmental impacts. (Ex: When a baseball glove gets five years of use across three different players instead of sitting unused after six months, we've created real value for families while dramatically reducing waste.)

When we keep sports equipment in circulation, costs drop and access increases. Families spend less on quality gear, athletes who couldn't afford to play get their opportunity, local options are prioritized, and we reduce the environmental impact of constantly manufacturing new equipment.

Next Rep isn't just a marketplace, it's infrastructure for more sustainable, accessible sports. Whether you're looking for affordable equipment or have gear to pass on, you're helping build a more efficient sports ecosystem. Every transaction supports both individual families and the broader goal of keeping more athletes active and engaged.

About the Founder

Shelby's journey to Next Rep began with a familiar frustration: watching quality sports equipment sit unused while other athletes struggled to afford gear and how this puts increasing pressure on our environment. As a former Division 1 lacrosse player and coach, she'd experienced both sides of the sports access equation, from her own playing career to working with athletes.

The breaking point came when she realized her personal equipment challenges weren't isolated incidents, but symptoms of a much larger systemic problem. Drawing on her academic foundation and corporate experience in sustainability and marketing, Shelby saw an opportunity to address both the environmental waste and accessibility barriers plaguing youth sports.

Next Rep represents the intersection of Shelby's diverse background: her athlete's understanding of gear needs, her coach's perspective on community building, and her professional expertise in creating sustainable systems that actually work. She's building Next Rep not just as a marketplace, but as infrastructure for more connected, accessible, and environmentally conscious sports communities.
